Priority Notices & Membership
We have membership availability: e-mail 'membership@joyara.org.uk' for more information.
A) Committee Membership - Events:
The Committee is now at a minimum level, and we have additional parties that have voiced interest in joining for the Association Year June '24 - May '25.
Given our provisional activity calendar through to December 2025, we will need Committee Members to arrange at least two events a year.
B) Committee Membership: Newsletter & Event Calendar
Two roles that are yet to be covered by new Committee members are:
1) Production of the monthly newsletter: if you are comfortable using e.g. Microsoft Word, is this something you could do?
2) Management of the Event Calendar: it is currently based on Excel & a GMail diary, but any interested party could manage how they are best able. Could you do this?
A printer owned by JOYARA is available.
Contact 'graham@joyara.org.uk' or call any other Committee member if you know their phone number.
Membership & GDPR
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation):
JOYARA takes the privacy of our members’ data seriously as a ‘controller’ of personal information you provide to us.
We need such data in order to provide core member services including confirmation of membership, club administration, event and meeting information, and welfare.
Your full details will be available to a limited number of Committee members, and ‘contact information’ only to Committee members in general and persons authorised when planning events: no information will be shared with any business or affiliate organisation, or used to support ‘cold calling’.
You may change your communication preferences or restrict the processing of your personal data for specific purposes.
Agreement to the GDPR statement is not a prerequisite condition for membership but without such it could become impractical to maintain your membership.
The Association’s GDPR must be considered in conjunction with the Association’s Constitution: please see the Historical Documentation page for information.
Membership
Membership is set to 200 persons per the Constitution.
It is determined by the Fire Safety requirements of the JW Community Centre;
The primary catchment area for membership is one mile from the JW Community Centre;
Eligibility is for persons 50 years or older, partially or fully retired, and their spouses/partner.
The cost of membership is £20pa. For this you get monthly entertainment, teas, coffees and cakes... compare that to the price you would pay in the major coffee chains and it's very good value!
